Lost Maples State Natural Area

This past November, we got out to Lost Maples State Natural Area which is located around Vanderpool, TX. We typically visit this area in the summers and rarely get to make the pilgrimage in the fall. This is a tragedy honestly because Lost Maples is all about fall. Some of the primary vegetation in the park includes Ashe juniper, several different species of oak, bigtooth maple, and sycamore trees.

All this means that if you’re very lucky and you time your visit right, you can sometimes catch a lovely little fall leaf color show. 2024.
